Why did we do this hour of healing? In the wake of the heartbreaking flood that swept through Central Texas — and claimed the lives of so many — many of us are left wondering how we can help. How do we hold such grief... and still rise?

We at Camp Atta Girl! wanted to do something. Camp Atta Girl! was born in the Texas Hill Country, and many of our followers, friends, and attendees are feeling this loss deeply. This was our way to come together — to support, to honor, and to heal. And we know that no matter where you live, this is affecting your heart, too.

So we created this one-hour virtual event — filled with music, Let Your Yoga Dancing and joy — to honor the lives lost, hold space for collective grief, and send healing to all those impacted by the Central Texas Floods.

We are so honored to have had Karen Drucker and Megha Nancy Buttenheim join us for this one-hour virtual healing event.

Let us dance, sing, and heal — together.

Please check out Karen Drucker and Megha Nancy Buttenheim below. Both offer such lovely ways to love yourself and spread joy to the world.

Note from Lisa, Founder of Camp Atta Girl!

For those who may not know me, I am Lisa Sullivan, the founder of Camp Atta Girl! I started this women's retreat 7 years ago, after going through some challenges in my life. I wanted to create something to empower women and help them rediscover how amazing they are. I have held 1 and 3-Day retreats in New Mexico, Florida, Massachussets and of course, in the Hill Country of Central Texas, where I live. Camp Atta Girl! was born here in the Hill Country.

Like so many of you, my heart has been heavy with the tragedy of the floods that struck our beautiful area. The loss of those young girls and so many others… it’s unimaginable. And in moments like this, it can feel like joy has no place. But I believe — with everything in me — that joy isn’t the opposite of grief. It’s the companion that helps carry us through it.

Joy is how we remember. Joy is how we honor. Joy is how we begin to heal.

That’s why I’m so grateful for Karen and Megha for helping me put on this hour of music, Let Your Yoga Dance, and heart opening. All money will be donated to those affected via the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country. They are a wonderful non-profit organization that has created a Kerr County Flood Relief Fund. Every donation will be given to that relief fund. If you feel more comfortable donating directly to them, that link is here: Kerr County Flood Relief Fund

No matter where you donate or even if you cannot afford to donate, I hope you'll join Karen, Megha and me on Monday night. We’ll laugh. We’ll cry. We’ll dance. We’ll hold space for all the emotions, and we’ll remind ourselves — and each other — that light still exists, even in the darkest moments.

This is how we rise... and dance... Together.

With love and gratitude,

Lisa
