Let's Rock Out Loud!
Many women come to one of our retreats and leave a sparkle that lingers. Kathy Gobiel was one of those women.
For those who may not have known Kathy, she first joined our very first 3-day Camp Atta Girl! that was held in the Berkshires in 2022. She arrived with her beautiful, ever-present smile and a willingness to fully participate in the dancing, the sharing, the sisterhood. She wanted to attend every single camp after that. Life and health sometimes made that difficult, but she returned again in 2024 and stayed connected through many virtual gatherings in between.
She never stopped showing up in spirit. She often sent me notes and emails lifting my spirits, encouraging the work, cheering the circle on. That was Kathy. Even when she could not physically be there, she was there.
Kathy recently passed away after an illness. In honor of the beautiful life and spirit of Kathy, her husband Bryan and family are generously offering two scholarships to support women in continuing the journey Kathy loved so deeply.
For the past year, Kathy often shared one simple phrase: “Let’s Rock Out Loud!”
It wasn’t just cute.
It was how she lived.
So, in honor of Kathy Gobiel, and her fierce commitment to joy, movement, music, and showing up fully, her family is offering two scholarships in her name.
The scholarships are for our upcoming Joy Cruise in January of 2027. There are two scholarship opportunities:
🌊 Full Scholarship – $2,000
For one woman to join The Joy Cruise (Jan 2–9, 2027)
Available to women who attended Camp Atta Girl! in the Berkshires.
✨ Partial Scholarship – $1,000
For one woman to join The Joy Cruise
Available to women who have attended any Camp Atta Girl! retreat.

💫 Selection Process:
Scholarship recipients will be thoughtfully selected based on the depth, authenticity, and heart reflected in their responses.
It is okay if you did not know Kathy personally. We are looking for women who:

— Are open to growth, connection, and transformation —
— Reflect the spirit of joy, courage, and community that Kathy embodied —
All applications will be reviewed with care, love, and intention.
Important Information About the Scholarships:
Scholarship Coverage

The full $2,000 scholarship will cover the cost of an inside cabin for one woman. The recipient may choose to upgrade to a different cabin category at her own expense.

The $1,000 partial scholarship will be applied toward the cost of any cabin selected by the recipient.
Application of Funds
Scholarship funds will be paid directly to the designated travel agency booking The Joy Cruise. We will work with the recipient and the travel agency to ensure the funds are applied to the recipient’s reservation.
Additional Expenses
Recipients are responsible for:

Travel to and from the departure port

Any onboard expenses (including excursions, spa services, specialty dining, etc.)
Cancellation Policy
If a recipient cancels her cruise for any reason, the scholarship funds will be returned to The Happiness Element/Camp Atta Girl! and to be used for future scholarships in Kathy Gobiel’s name.
Tax Responsibility
Recipients are responsible for any applicable taxes associated with receiving this scholarship.
Selection Process
Scholarship recipients will be selected by a review committee based on thoughtful responses to the application questions.
Eligibility
The full scholarship is available to women who attended the Camp Atta Girl! retreat in the Berkshires.
The partial scholarship is available to women who have attended any Camp Atta Girl! retreat.
Women who have already registered for The Joy Cruise are still eligible to apply. If selected, we will work with the travel agency to ensure the scholarship is applied and any additional monies already paid go back to the scholarship recipient.
Other:
Scholarships have no cash value and cannot be redeemed for cash or applied to any other offerings.
Scholarships are non-transferable and may only be used by the selected recipient.
Recipients must accept the scholarship within 7–10 days of notification, or the scholarship may be awarded to another applicant.
Recipients agree to complete their cruise booking within a specified timeframe in coordination with the travel agency.
For the full scholarship, recipient must have attended a Camp Atta Girl! in the Berkshires. For the partial scholarship, the recipient must have attended a 1-, 2-or 3-day Camp Atta Girl! in Texas, Florida, New Mexico or Massachusetts. It must be an actual Camp Atta Girl!, not a virtual or online program.
